It’s Friday…let’s have a drink!

I know I say this every week…but it’s SO good to see Friday.  And a 3 day weekend on top of that – woooo!  Goals for the weekend: pumpkin pickin’, making apple crisp, finish cleaning and get some serious crafting done.  Which also means decorating my new craft space – pictures to come soon!

Anyways, moving on to the drink of the week.  If you are a fan of Asian cuisine, make sure you order a Blue Hawaii the next time you go to a Chinese or Japanese restaurant.  They always have Blue Hawaii’s on their menu and oh my gosh they are delicious.  Tropical, but not too sweet, and usually they’re pretty strong so you really only need one or two to get a good buzz :)

The original recipe from the Drinks Mixer website suggests blending all the ingredients in an electric blender.  I’ve never had one frozen, so here’s a modified recipe of one on the rocks.

Blue Hawaii:

1 oz light rum
1 cherry
2 oz pineapple juice
1 oz Blue Curacao liqueur
1 oz cream of coconut
1 pineapple slice or an orange slice

Mix light rum, blue curacao, pineapple juice, and cream of coconut in a shaker. Pour contents over ice into a highball glass. Decorate with the slice of pineapple or orange and a cherry.
